[CES 2013] Seagate Central, a Media Hub for the Entire Home

At CES 2013, Seagate has revealed the Central shared hybrid device that combines the benefits of an external HDD with those of a consumer NAS device (Network-attached storage).

Essentially, it is a multi-functional data hub that can store and stream audio and video, wirelessly, to Samsung Smart TVs, mobile gadgets, computers, etc.

The capacity can be of 2 TB, 3 TB and 4 TB. It allows for many films to be stored at a time, and benefits owners who choose to use the Central as a backup solution for connected computers.

Also, since this is a NAS of sorts, people can transfer photos and other files to it from any 3G or Wi-Fi connection.

The Seagate Media App can be used to sort files when checking the data from an iOS, Android or Kindle Fire device.

Seagate expects prospective buyers to pay between $189 / 144-189 Euro and $256 / 195-256 Euro
