Sony announced its new Xperia E and Xperia E Dual smartphones back in December 2012. Now, only a few months after, the dual SIM version of the handset can be purchased in the UK.
For the moment, MobiCity seems to be the only British retailer that’s selling the Xperia E Dual. Available in either black, or gold, the handset is priced at £179.99 (€208 or $283).
Sporting a 3.5 inch scratch-resistant display with 480 x 320 pixels, the Xperia E Dual is an entry-level smartphone. Its features include HSDPA, Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth 2.1, active noise cancellation, stereo FM radio with RDS, 3.2MP rear camera, 512MB of RAM, 1GHZ single-core Qualcomm MSM7227A Snapdragon processor, 4GB of internal memory, and MicroSD card support (up to 32GB). Measuring 113.5 x 61.8 x 11 mm and weighing 115.7 grams, the handset includes a 1,540 mAh battery (up to six hours of talk time).
Unlike the single SIM version of the Xperia E (which comes with Android Jelly Bean out of the box), the Xperia E dual runs Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich. But don’t worry, it will be updated to Jelly Bean sometime later this year.
Speaking of the single SIM Xperia E, this should be also released in the UK before the end of the month. It will be a bit cheaper than the E Dual, costing around £145.
More and more major Android vendors are releasing dual SIM smartphones in European – including, of, course, Samsung and LG. The latest dual SIM handset from Samsung is the Galaxy Grand, while the latest from LG is the Optimus L7 II (this hasn’t been properly announced though).
