Fractal Design Reveals Core 3000 USB 3.0 Case

Even though PC sales are dropping, makers of computer hardware don't really have much choice but to go forward with their product announcements. Fractal Design is the one taking its so-called turns now.

Fractal Design has formally introduced an enclosure that has very little in common with the one whose name it is carrying on.

Last year, the IT player launched the Core 1000, an entry-level enclosure with a price of $40 / 30-40 Euro.

The Core 3000 USB 3.0 is much more advanced, not to mention larger, as it can hold not only micro-ATX, but also ATX and DTX motherboards.

For those that want specifics, the product measures 200 mm x 444 mm x 480 mm (7.87 x 17.48 x 18.90 inches) and weighs 17.4 lbs (7.9kg).

Two 5.25-inch bays are available on the outside, with an adapter for external insertion of 3.5-inch HDDs (adapter plate and cage for mounting a 3.5-inch drive in a 5.25-inch bay).

The inside has six 3.5-inch / 2.5-inch bays (silicone grommets for the drive cage) and seven expansion slots with ventilated covers.

Fractal Design even tossed in a bunch of fans of 140mm and 120mm, as well as an I/O panel with two USB 3.0 connectors, two USB 2.0 ports and audio/mic jacks.

Add to that the removable and rotatable drive cage that turns the available graphics card room (length) from 270mm to 420mm, and this new chassis is a more than decent buy at $75, 64.95 Euro, £ 54.95, SEK 599.

The tags do not reflect exchange rates, but they are the prices that Fractal Design provided. Speaking of which, go here for all the information on the Fractal Design 3000 USB 3.0 desktop tower case.
