Upcoming Sony Xperia SP gets compared to the Xperia V in leaked photos

The Sony Xperia SP has starred in a photo shoot in which it got compared to the already available Xperia V. The ensuing pictures are below for your convenience.

The Xperia SP will be the commercial name of the device codenamed HuaShan and coming with the model number C530x. We heard about the official name at the end of last month, and we’ve seen the HuaShan once before. But back then it was by itself, and so we didn’t know exactly how big it would be.

But after taking a look at the images above, one can surely say that the SP will be just a bit larger than the V. So perhaps there’s a 4.5-inch touchscreen in there, as opposed to the V’s 4.3-inch unit? The resolution will be 720p HD according to previous rumors, and the Xperia SP will also feature a 1.7 GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor.

The tipster that is the source for these pictures says that the SP has a plastic back cover, which can be removed in order to insert the SIM card and microSD card. However, the battery is non-removable. The Sony Xperia SP will launch running Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean, but the prototype unit showcased in the photos apparently crashes a lot and is generally unstable. It is a proto, though, so Sony may iron things out by the time of the release.
