DROID RAZR HD and RAZR MAXX HD Now Available at Verizon, Amazon

As expected, Motorola DROID RAZR HD and RAZR MAXX HD hit shelves in the US. Both smartphones are now available for purchase via Amazon and Verizon Wireless.

Customers who wish to grab the "basic" DROID RAZR HD can do so for as low as $ 199.99 USD (150 EUR) with a new two-year agreement. The slightly more advanced RAZR MAXX HD is available for $ 299.99 USD (230 EUR) on a two-year term.

Those who do not want to commit to a long-term contract can purchase the DROID RAZR HD for $ 599.99 USD (460 EUR) outright. The DROID RAZR MAXX HD is priced at $ 649.99 USD (495 EUR) outright.

The main difference is the fact that Motorola DROID RAZR MAXX HD packs a higher-capacity 3300 mAh Li-Ion battery, whereas the DROID RAZR HD is powered by a 2530 mAh Li-Ion battery. The amount of storage is also different.

Aside from that, the smartphones are pretty similar when it comes to specs and software. Keep in mind that both devices are shipped with Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system out of the box, but Motorola announced a Jelly Bean update would be available soon after launch.

The new DROIDs boast 4.7-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen displays, which supports HD (720 x 1280 pixels) resolution and feature Corning Gorilla Glass coating.

Hardware-wise, they are equipped with 1.5 GHz dual-core processors and 1GB of RAM. However, while the DROID RAZR HD packs 12GB of internal memory, the DROID RAZR MAXX HD packs a whopping 32GB storage.

Both smartphones come with microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB), as well as 8-megapixel rear camera with autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording.

Connectivity highlights include LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth with EDR support, built-in GPS with GLONASS, microHDMI port and microUSB.
