LG Optimus G2 Confirmed to Arrive Before June 2013 with Android 5.0 Key Lime

The first rumors on the LG Optimus G2 emerged more than a month ago, though there were only speculations that the smartphone might arrive next year packed with full HD display.

Today, more info on the Optimus G successor has leaked in South Korea, which points to a possible release of the smartphone before June 2013.

LG Optimus G2 will be a direct competitor to Samsung's Galaxy S IV smartphone, which means it will have to pack pretty high-end features.

Smartphone will boast a 5.5-inch Full HD, which is said to be manufactured by LG Display.

This makes sense, especially that LG announced a few months ago the partnership between its affiliated companies for the next high-end smartphones.

Furthermore, the Optimus G2 will be equipped with a powerful 2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8974 S4 Prime processor.

According to the latest hearsay, the smartphone will pack 32GB of internal memory and microSD card slot for memory expansion. There's no word on the amount of RAM, but we expect the device will come with at least 2GB.

Another strong point of the LG Optimus G2 will be the 13-megapixel photo snapper on the back, which features autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording. It will likely come with a secondary front-facing camera for video calls as well.

More specs for the LG Optimus G2 include third-generation LTE, but also Android 5.0 Key Lime. The latter might be just a speculation, but given the fact that Google is expected to launch the next version of its Android platform next year, there's a high chance the Optimus G2 will be among the first devices to run it.

It will be interesting to see how well the LG Optimus G2 will fare against the Samsung Galaxy S IV, especially if they are launched around the same time frame.
