Well-known mainboard manufacturer, Taiwanese company Gigabyte has just launched a new notebook that's powered by Intel's 3rd-generation Core processors. The new mobile computer will still use Microsoft's Windows 7 operation system.
The official model name of the new device is Gigabyte Q2440 and this one features a 14 "screen, but don't get your hopes up that it might be a normal 4:3 display because it most certainly is not.
The screen resolution is the dreaded 1366 by 768, but we can't ask too much as this is a mid-range model, not a high-end one.
Gigabyte offers models with 2 GB or 4 GB of DDR3 memory, but the system supports up to 8 GB of such memory and it can be configured with 5400 RPM hard drives ranging from 320 GB to 750 GB.
The ODD DVD-RW unit is present as are all the necessary connectivity options such as two USB 3.0 ports, one single USB 2.0 connector, an HDMI one, the classic VGA D-Sub 15 connector, an RJ45 Gigabit port and the usual HD audio jacks, a 6-in-1 card reader.
Intel's HM76 is the chipset responsible for most of these connectivity options, but the notebook also comes with WirelessN, Bluetooth 4,0 and a 1.3 MP webcam.
Gigabyte packed the Q2440 notebook with a 6-cell battery that is rated at 4400 mAh while the whole weight of the device is specified as 2.1 Kg and that's almost 4.63 pounds.
Pricing has not been announced yet.
