Amazon Kindle Phone Confirmed for Mid-2013 – Report

It appears that the rumors surrounding Amazon's entrance on the smartphone market with their own products were pretty accurate. While we still don't have an official confirmation from the giant retailer, one of the largest handset manufacturers, Foxconn has reportedly admitted it had landed orders from Amazon for a supposed Kindle phone.

Digitimes reports both Foxconn Electronics, the parent company, and Foxconn International Holding declined to comment on this information, but "sources from the upstream supply chain" confirmed Amazon would launch its Kindle phone in mid-2013.

Moreover, Amazon will only release a limited number of devices in order to test the market with its product.

There are no further details regarding Amazon's smartphone yet, but there's a high chance it will be powered by Google's Android platform integrated with some kind of proprietary user interface. Stay tuned for more updates on the matter.
