Intel Next Unit of Computing available soon at a price of £199

Earlier this year, Intel showed us its Next Unit Computing platform. The system was originally slated for release in October, bearing a $ 400 pricetag. We're now in November, with the device nowhere to be found. Intel's website reveals that the DC3217IYE model will be released later this month, wit the DC3217BY and DCCP487DYE to follow in December and the first quarter of 2013, respectively.

The DC3217IYE has dimensions of 116.6 x 112 x 39 mm and features Intel's Core i3 3217U 1.8 GHz dual-core processor. Graphics are provided by the integrated HD 4000 video chip. The system is built around the QS77 Express chipset and can hold up to 16 GB of memory, in addition to an mSATA SSD. Anandtech has acquired the NUC and states that the recommended price has dropped to $ 315, which buys you just the chassis, motherboard and processor.

The other components, including the power cable, will have to be purchased separately. It's likely that Intel is trying to keep the system's price low by not having to supply different power cabling for each region.
