Acer Builds 11.6-Inch Haswell-Powered Tablet

The past several months have been stuffed with news, rumors and reports about Intel's Haswell central processing unit series, but now that the launch date is around the corner, there is a greater number of leaks about products based on them.

As some may or may not have expected, given the company's history, Acer is among those most eager to exploit the Haswell CPU collection.

Acer is also preparing tablets, or at least one tablet.

Said tablet is known by its codename Acer Bulgari for now, but will probably be called something else. Iconia perhaps, or some other moniker.

The 11.6-inch display is a touchscreen LCD, possibly IPS, with a native resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. Obviously, Acer isn't aiming to cut any expenses here.

Hence the Core i3 CPU and the 4 GB of DDR3 RAM backing it up (random access memory). The tablet even has 64 GB of NAND Flash storage.

What's more, a memory card slot allows for an even greater capacity. Add to that the 8-megapixel camera and the basics are all covered.

Given the normal traits of high-end slates, we presume that is just one of two cameras. The one on the back. There may very well be a second one on the front, for web chats and such, instead of photo and video capture.

Other features that Acer has no doubt included (though we don't have confirmation) are USB 3.0 (one port at least), Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and 3G/LTE/4G (maybe).

Regardless of how many of those traits turn out to be true, the tablet will run the Windows 8 operating system, Windows 8 Pro that is, not Windows RT.

Official availability is set for June, but the price isn't known. We'll have to keep an eye out for competing models from Acer's rivals.
