ASUS latest graphics card in its coveted Republic of Gamers series, is the ROG Matrix 7970, a high-end graphics card with a Radeon HD 7970 GPU on steroids, with enough connectivity to drive 6-display Eyefinity.
The ROG Matrix 7970 is ASUS' addition to a growing line of upcoming Radeon HD 7970 graphics cards by various AMD add-in board (AIB) partners, with extremely high (?25% factory OC), although its exact clock speeds are not revealed at this point. What we do know, is that the card will be backed by a strong VRM, which will support its factory OC, and then some. The card draws power from two 8-pin PCIe power connectors.Apart from consolidated voltage measurement points, the card has override switches for fan-speed, and voltages, including a one-push safe-mode. LEDs update the user on voltage. The card packs two BIOS ROMs, one with the factory-OC, and the other with a failsafe BIOS, which can be toggled by flicking a small switch on the top of the card (next to the CFBI connectors).
The card is cooled by an enormous triple-slot cooling solution, which consists of two aluminum fin stacks, which draw heat from the GPU base, and are ventilated by two 120 mm fans. The top of the cooler has a groovy multi-color illuminated ASUS Matrix logo. Display outputs of the Matrix 7970 could include two dual-link DVI, and four DisplayPort connectors, which amount to the card being able to drive 6-display Eyefinity.
