Motorola to update DROID Mini, Maxx, Ultra and Moto X to 4.4

Motorola, a Google-owned company, posted an update regarding the status of the Android 4.4 KitKat update for their 2013 Smartphones shortly after Google officially announced the newest iteration of Android. Support handsets include the Moto X and 2013 Motorola Droid models (Droid Mini, Droid Ultra and Droid MAXX). Punit Soni has revealed that Motorola's website will be continuously updated, we are hoping that one of them slips in a release date (in any way, it will take at least a month or two).

BlackBerry OS 10.2 update kicks off this week

BlackBerry has just announced the rollout schedule of the OS 10.2 firmware update. BlackBerry Z10 and Q10 and Q5 are the devices eligible for upgrade, while the Z30 is running on 10.2 out of box.

LG introduces its first Firefox OS phone, the Fireweb

LG is launching its first phone designed to run Mozilla’s Firefox OS. It’s called the LG Fireweb, and it’ll be available soon in Brazil from wireless carrier Telefonica.

Windows 8.1 now officially available

We’ve known since August that today was the official launch date for Windows 8.1. Microsoft has now officially announced that Windows 8.1 is available globally. If you’ve been following Windows 8.1, you may already know some of the things that the new version of the operating system brings to the table. Android Key Lime Pie is officially Android 4.4 KitKat.

Google has confirmed that a new, major version of Android is coming soon. But it won’t be Android Key Lime Pie (this name has been in the rumors for quite a while now). The official name of the platform’s next iteration is Android 4.4 KitKat. Yes, Kit Kat is Nestlé’s famous chocolate / wafer biscuit. And yes, Google and the Swiss company have made an agreement over this.

In a recent company blog, it stated that OEMs (pre-built desktop and notebook manufacturers) will begin receiving the software in August, so their products running the software could reach markets by October, when the operating system is expected to formally launch.
