The HTC 603e that we told you about several times until now is officially called HTC E1. So, in the end, it looks like the handset is not just a Chinese version of the HTC M4 – although it is indeed made for China.
The HTC E1 costs 1,799 CNY (meaning about $290, or €224) in China, and should be available for purchase there pretty soon.

At the moment, the new smartphone is on pre-sale, and interested customers can order it here at HTC China’s official webstore. The E1 is currently listed only in a white version:
As previously reported, the E1 603e runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean (with an update to 4.2 probably scheduled for later this year). Other features include: Sense 4.0+ UI, a 4.3 inch WVGA Super LCD2 display, dual SIM capabilities, HSPA (for one SIM only), NFC, A-GPS, Wi-Fi, Beats Audio technology, Bluetooth 4.0, 5MP rear camera with LED flash, 2.1MP front-facing camera, dual-core Qualcomm processor (clocked at 1.15GHz, according to the official specs), 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal memory, and MicroSD card support. The handset measures 128.5 x 66.9 x 9.8 mm, weighs 130 grams, and has a 2,100 mAh battery.
It is unclear if the E1 – or any version of it – is going to be released outside China. But we will let you know in case HTC has such plans.
