Asustor also plans to use Intel's Atom CE5315 1.2 GHz SoC in its next generation of NAS devices. The chip is to be featured in Asustor's new 3-series. This line of NAS devices will be positioned below the current 6-series, which we recently reviewed.
The 3-series models have a single Gigabit LAN connector, as well as an HDMI port. At CeBIT, both a 2-bay and a 4-bay model were shown. The chassis isn't as luxurious as the one used for the 6-series NAS devices; the 4-bay model doesn't appear to have an integrated display. Like the 6-series though, the devices have extensive firmware. The 3-series is expected to launch in June.
