Samsung start Jelly Bean updates Galaxy Tab 7.7 GT-P6800

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 was launched at the end of 2011, running Android 3.2 Honeycomb. It was updated to Android Ice Cream Sandwich in the summer of 2012, and now – surprise! – it’s being updated to Android Jelly Bean, too.

According to SamMobile, the update (Android 4.1.2) is being rolled-out in the following countries: Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore, and Malaysia. It can be downloaded either over the air, or via Samsung Kies. Users in other markets should receive the update pretty soon as well.

For the moment, only the Tab 7.7 GT-P6800 model seems to be getting Jelly Bean. There is no word on when tablet’s other two versions (GT-P6810, and Verizon’s LTE-capable i815) will be updated.

The Galaxy Tab 7.7 is Samsung’s first and only tablet to have a Super AMOLED display (1280 x 800 pixels). The second one might be the rumored Galaxy Tab 3 8.0, which should have a full HD AMOLED screen. The Tab 3 8.0 could be announced in September.
