Archos 97 Titanium HD with “retina display” and Android 4.1 Jelly

French company Archos has officially unveiled a new tablet called Archos 97 Titanium HD.

The device sports a 9.7 inch IPS display with 2048 x 1536 pixels – just like Apple’s latest iPad. So we could say the Archos 97 Titanium HD has a retina display, too.

Of course, the new Archos tablet runs Android – Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, to be exact. Its other features include: Wi-Fi, 5MP rear camera with autofocus, 2MP front-facing camera, 1.6GHz dual-core A9 processor, quad-core GPU (Mali 400 MP4), Archos Media Center apps, OfficeSuite Viewer, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal memory, and MicroSD card support (up to 64GB). The device weighs 640 grams, and measures 240 mm x 184 mm x 9 mm.

Archos doesn’t say how much the 97 Titanium HD costs, and neither when it will be available for purchase. But it should be out soon, at least in Europe.

Archos has introduced many – and different – Android tablets lately, including the 13.3 inch Arnova Family Pad, the 8 inch 80 Cobalt, and the 7 inch Game Pad. However, the 97 Titanium HD is the first to come with a 2048 x 1536 pixels screen, so we should see it as the company’s top of the line tablet.
