A new 5-inch phablet is now official, coming from ZTE on the trail of Samsung’s recently announced Galaxy Grand handset, namely the ZTE U887.
The device has already received the necessary certification in China, it seems, and is expected to arrive on shelves as a mid-level device.

The phone’s specs list shows a 5-inch screen that can deliver only an 800 x 480 pixels resolution, along with a dual-core 1.2GHz MT6577 processor packed inside.
Furthermore, ZTE included only 512MB of RAM inside this smartphone, along with support for TD-SCDMA and GSM networks, and a 5-megapixel photo snapper on the back. It also sports some of the looks of ZTE’s Nubia Z5 smartphone.
No specific info on when the 5-inch device might arrive on shelves has been provided as of now, but more should emerge soon, so stay tuned.
