While I-O Data only has some new drive enclosures for sale, Buffalo has some actual external storage devices to offer, or at least will soon enough. Buffalo Japan unveiled the HD-PUSU3 line of slimline portable HDDs. Measuring 79 x 115 x 8.8 mm (WxDxH), and weighing 140 g, the drives enclose 500 GB 7 mm-thick Ultraboook-grade HDDs.
Even in that thin form factor, Buffalo still managed to cram a SATA 6.0 Gbps controller and the wiring to the USB 3.0 connector used to link to the PC, or whatever other device is used as a host.

Also, the drives ship with the Turbo PC EX2 software, which boost data speed. Installers for both Windows and Mac are included in the bundle.
Buffalo will have red (HD-PUS500U3-R), black (HD-PUS500U3-B) and silver (HD-PUS500U3-S) drives up for sale from February, for 11,655¥ ($132 / 98.97 Euro).
