While some TV vendors are expected to release Ultra HD (3840 by 2160) TVs as early as April 2013, supply chain sources believe that most vendors will not do so until September due to panel production issues at Samsung Display and LG Display.
The sources said that Ultra HD TV vendors associated with AUO's supply chain may have adequate Ultra HD TV panel supplies as early as the beginning of the second quarter, but those with Samsung and LG will likely have to wait until as late as the third quarter due to below expected results in producing the technology.

The sources also noted 55-inch Ultra HD TVs that use panels from AUO are likely to be priced between US$2,800-3,400 when released.
Meanwhile, market observers said they expect Ultra HD TVs to have low sales in 2013 and are expected to make up 4% of the global TV market share in 2014 followed by 10% in 2015.
