Affordable 9.7-Inch Zync Z1000 Tablet Now Available in India

Indian company Zync Global Private Limited, makers of Zync tablets, has just announced the immediate availability of its first tablet that features a multi-touch HD display, the Z1000.

Zync Z1000 is now available for purchase via leading retailers across the country for only Rs 10,990 ($ 200 or € 155). ThinkDigit reports that Zync is also offering one month free subscription for Bigflix to each customer purchasing the Z1000 tablet.

As we mentioned earlier, Zync Z1000 sports a 9.7-inch IPS capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (1024 x 768 pixels) resolution and 16 million colors. The screen's size is similar to Apple's iPad, though the quality of Z1000's display falls far behind the former.

It is also worth mentioning that the tablet ships with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich out for the box, but the manufacturer has already confirmed a Jelly Bean upgrade will be available "in the coming months."

Hardware-wise, Zync Z100 is pretty solid as the slate is equipped with a 1.5 GHz single-core processor built on Cortex A8 architecture, which is complemented by a Mali-400 graphics processing unit and 1GB of RAM.

Furthermore, the Z1000 packs 8GB of internal memory, along with microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB). On the back, the slate features a subpar 2-megapixel camera, while in the front there's a secondary VGA camera for video calls.

Last but not least, the new tablet offers 3G connectivity, as well as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, HDMI and microUSB. Keep in mind that Zync Z1000 does not come with built-in GPS receiver.

"This is our first attempt of launching a tablet with a multi-touch HD display, with a higher screen resolution and face-unlocking feature. As of now, the product is running on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich but it can be upgraded onto the latest Android 4.1 Jellybean platform in the coming months, "said Ashish Garg, director, Zync Global.
