The Japanese handset maker Sony released the Xperia Ion in Canada for quite some time now, but the smarpthone is only available at Rogers.
However, the folks over at MobileSyrup have just learned the Xperia ion is headed to WIND Mobile as well. The information comes via an ad that has been recently spotted in a Cineplax Magazine.
Unfortunately, the ad does not offer any details on the phone's exact release date or pricing options, so we we will have to wait a bit more for these info to leak online.
If this proves accurate, the Xperia ion would be WIND Mobile's first Sony smartphone. It's unclear whether or not the handset will be shipped with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich platform out of the box or it will be powered by a previous version.
The good news it that Sony Mobile already confirmed the Xperia ion will receive an Android 4.1 Jelly Bean upgrade at some point next year.
Furthermore, Sony Xperia ion sports a stunning 4.55-inch LED-backlit LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720 x 1280 pixels) resolution. Based on Sony Mobil Bravia technology, the phone's display is protected by scratch resistant glass.
Hardware-wise, the device is equipped with a powerful 1.5 GHz dual core Qualcomm MSM8260 Snapdragon processor, which is complemented by an Adreno 220 GPU and 1GB of RAM.
It comes with 13GB of internal memory, which can be further expanded up to 32GB via microSD memory card.
On the back, Sony Xperia ion boasts an impressive 12-megapixel photo snapper with autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording, while in the front there's a secondary 1.3-megapixel camera for video calls.
According to Sony, the 1900 mAh Li-Ion battery should provide up to 400 hours of standby time (350 hours in 3G mode) or up to 10 hours of talk time (4 hours in 3G mode).
