HTC Windows Phone 8X and 8S Coming to Europe on November 20

The upcoming availability of HTC Windows Phone 8X in the US has already been confirmed for November 12 at Verizon Wireless.

However, it appears that the Taiwanese handset maker decided to postpone the international launch of its 8X and 8S smartphones until November 20.

The company did not offer any details on the reasons behind the one-week delay between the two launch events; instead, it mentioned the Windows Phone 8 devices will be available at carriers and leading retailers at the same time.

Notebookinfo.de reports the announcement was made by Microsoft and HTC during a common press event in Munich, Germany. In this regard, it appears that HTC 8X and 8S will be available in Germany via O2, Telekom and Vodafone.

No details on the phones' pricing options have been given at the event, but the latest hearsay point to a 500 EUR (645 USD) no-term price for the HTC 8X, and a 300 EUR (390 USD) outright price for the 8S model.

Still, these numbers have yet to be confirmed by the Taiwanese handset maker, so take it with a grain of salt until more info on the matter emerges.

The 8X and 8S are the only Windows Phone 8 devices built by HTC that will make it to market this year. Both are expected to be released globally in the following weeks.

The HTC 8X is the better featured and comes with a dual-core Qualcomm MSM8960 Snapdragon processor clocked at 1.5 GHz, Adreno 225 GPU and 1GB of RAM. The 8S only packs a 1 GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 CPU, the same GPU and only 512MB of RAM.

It is also worth mentioning that HTC 8X packs 16GB of internal memory and lacks microSD card slot for memory expansion, whereas the 8S comes with only 4GB storage, which can be further expanded up to 32GB via microSD memory card.
