Upcoming 85-Inch Samsung 4K UHD TV Certified in Europe and US

The market of UHD television sets is only in its infancy, but the low number of such screens isn't there for lack of trying on display developers' part. Samsung's S9 is clear evidence of that, one might say.

The S9 is just one of the multiple television sets we know of that have a native resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels.

It will soon become very important though, as one of the first of its kind to sell in the United States and countries from Europe.

It has a native resolution of 85 inches, which is actually somewhat unusual. A fair few of the other UHD TVs we've seen measure 84 inches.

Then again, few people will actually notice the difference, if any, so this is irrelevant in the grand scheme of things.

What is relevant is that the 85-inch S9 UHD TV has been certified by TUV Rheinland in Europe, and Underwriters Laboratories in the US.

That is to say, these two organizations examined the color accuracy, response rate, brightness, viewing angle and overall picture quality, finding them satisfactory (to say the least).

To help people make an idea of how significant this is, the S9 is the third high-end Samsung TV to earn TUV Rheinland certification in the last three years.

Meanwhile, Underwriters Laboratories paid special attention to the picture, audio and 3D output quality.

If nothing else, the newest development will help justify the price of 40 million won that prospective buyers from South Korea have to pay for pre-orders ($38,000 / €29,176).

Since the news is about the US and Europe though, we can assume that shipments there will start being carried out soon. India and other markets will only get it from May onwards though.
