Xigmatek Unveils Boreas C-type CPU Cooler

Quickly following up on last month's launch of the Janus low-profile C-type CPU cooler, Xigmatek unveiled its biggest of the kind, the Boreas (LD1465).

Its design consists of a copper CPU base with five 6 mm-thick copper heat-pipes making direct contact with the CPU (HDT), and conducting it to a dense aluminum fin stack that's arranged along the plane of the motherboard. 

Two large 140 mm PWM controlled fans sandwich the fin-stack, ventilating air in a push-pull fashion. Without fans, the heatsink measures 140 x 140 x 100 mm (LxWxH), weighing 600 g. Fans add another 25 mm to its height, and 350 g to its weight. You can pull out the top fan to make the heatsink more SFF-friendly, or pull out the bottom one for extra clearance with components around the CPU socket, such as tall memory modules, fancy VRM heatsinks, etc.

The two fans support PWM control, and spin at speeds ranging between 800 and 1,500 RPM, each pushing up to 38.42 CFM of air. The cooler is designed to handle chips with TDP of up to 150W.
