ASUS Announces MeMO Pad HD 7

ASUS announced MeMO Pad HD 7, a 7-inch tablet that could go on to become the company's most successful, looking at its specs and pricing. The tablet is priced at just US $149, but gives you features that get close to rivaling the company's own Nexus 7.

To begin with, the 7-inch screen of the MeMO Pad HD 7 offers a pleasant 1280 x 800 pixels resolution. Its glassy piano-black front goes with either matte black, of any of four glossy color options - hot pink, dark blue, pearl white, and lemon yellow. For its pricing, you get a decent 5-megapixel primary camera, with a 1.3-megapixel front-facing one.

Under its hood, the MeMO Pad HD 7 features a quad-core Cortex-A7 CPU clocked at 1.20 GHz, 1 GB of RAM, and 16 GB of storage that's expandable up to 32 GB with micro-SDHC, and an additional 16 GB of ASUS cloud-based storage for one year.

On the connectivity front, you get 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, micro-USB, and a 3.5 mm headset jack. The micro-SDHC slot is located externally, letting you hot-swap cards. Measuring 196.8 x 120.6 x 10.8 mm (WxDxH), the MeMO Pad HD 7 weighs 302 g. A 15 Wh Li-polymer battery can keep the tablet running for up to 10 hours on a full charge.

To clinch the deal, ASUS is pre-loading the MeMO Pad HD 7 with cutting-edge Android 4.2.2 "Jelly Bean" operating system.
