AT&T Nokia Lumia 1020 to ship starting July 23, pre-orders open now

Just as expected, today, July 16, AT&T has started taking pre-orders for the new Nokia Lumia 1020. While the handset’s official launch date is July 26, those who pre-order today will receive it a few days earlier, on July 23. Well, at least that’s what AT&T is currently saying.

At $299.99 on contract, the Lumia 1020 is the most expensive Windows Phone device in the US. Off-contract, the price asked by AT&T is $659.99. You can get the handset online (here) in three color versions: white, black, or yellow.

The high price is justified by the fact that the Lumia 1020 has the best camera ever included into a smartphone. It uses a second generation 41MP PureView sensor, six physical lenses, optical image stabilization, and Xenon flash.

Other features of the 1020: 4.5 inch PureMotion HD+ display with Gorilla Glass 3, LTE connectivity, NFC, Free global HERE Maps and HERE Drive+, Nokia Music, Nokia Pro Camera app, Nokia Rich Recording, Dolby Digital Plus sound, 1.2MP front-facing camera, dual-core 1.5GHz Snapdragon processor, 2GB of RAM,  32GB of internal memory, and a 2,000 mAh battery (supporting wireless charging).

Meanwhile, AT&T is still selling the older Nokia Lumia 920, which is offered for $99.99 on contract. Later this year, the carrier might launch the Lumia 520, too (this will probably be free on contract).
