Pioneer DDJ-SB DJ controller supports Serato software

Pioneer Electronics has unveiled its latest DJ controller called the DDJ-SB. The new DJ controller is designed to be more compact and portable than Pioneer’s DDJ-SX and DDJ-SR units while still offering the level of control and performance DJs look for. The DDJ-SB two-channel DJ controller is aimed at entry-level DJs.

The product promises the same look and feel as the two higher-end models with more basic operation and at a lower price. The DDJ-SP uses Serato DJ Intro software and has a number of performance pads, large jog wheels, and a Filter Fade function making it easier to blend tracks together.

The SB is designed as an all-in-one system featuring a two-channel mixer and two decks with large jog wheels to provide improved control for mixing and scratching. The device has four large rubber performance pads under each of the wheels to provide Hot Cue, Auto Loop, Manual Loop, and Sampler functions.

A second row of rubberized pads offers basic DJ functions like play, cue, sync, and shift. The Filter Fade function helps smooth blending transitions even for music with different styles to give more natural sounding mix effects. The DDJ-SB gets power from the USB portable laptop and has a built-in soundcard. It will be available in January 2014 for $299.
