The name of Creative's latest device is T3150 Wireless. Its name doesn't exactly say what it is, but the photos of it and, more importantly, the product page don't leave room for any confusion at all.
Basically, this is an entry-level wireless speaker system, which means that it can work without cables, but needs to be relatively close to a PC, or whatever other source of sound is available (media player, set-top box, etc.).
Basically, this is an entry-level wireless speaker system, which means that it can work without cables, but needs to be relatively close to a PC, or whatever other source of sound is available (media player, set-top box, etc.).
The 2.1 wireless speaker system has two satellites and a subwoofer with custom-tuned, down-firing port tube (clean bass sounds).
The satellites measure 75W x 150H x 90D mm (2.95 x 5.90 x 3.54 inches), while the subwoofer is much larger, at 184W x 225H x 190D mm (7.24 x 8.85 x 7.48 inches).
Bluetooth 2.1+EDR (Enhanced Data Rate) is the wireless transmission technology available. The range, in theory, can be of 10 meters / 30 feet, but walls, furniture and other structures will interfere with it. A2DP (Wireless Stereo Bluetooth) is supported at least.
What's more, the volume and power controls are conveniently placed on a wired remote.
Between that and the improved sonic directivity and imaging of the satellites (Creative IFP), the sound system should produce clear sound at any volume.
“The Creative IFP enables the satellites to deliver a wide acoustic sweet spot with a much improved sonic directivity to the listening area, giving music more focus while preserving tonal accuracy. A custom-tuned, down-firing subwoofer ensures a delightful music listening experience,” Creative explains in its press release.
The Creative T3150 Wireless speaker system has a price of £60 / €70 / roughly $100. Shipments will only start in May though.
