Ultra HD television with 3840x2160 pixels for 1299 USD

The United States based webshop TigerDirect currently has an interesting offer. The shop lists the Seiki SE50UY04, a 50-inch television with an Ultra High Definition resolution of 3840x2160 pixels, at a price of just $1299. The Seiki television has an LED-backlight, 120 Hz refresh rate, 5000:1 contrast ratio and a 6.5 ms response time.

Seiki isn't a very well known brand, and their standards for quality and service are unknown altogether. The deal is of particular interest to enthusiasts and early adopters of the 4K standard. Unfortunately, there's still no media available in the Ultra HD-resolution. At the very least we will have to wait  until Sony's FMP-X1 player becomes available this summer.

Nevertheless, at $1299, the 50-inch TV with Ultra HD capabilities is priced very competitively.
