Nowadays if you’re a Chinese smartphone maker and you want to quickly get your name out there, the way to do it seems to be creating thinner and thinner devices. Just ask Oppo, Huawei, Vivo, or Alcatel (China’s TCL being behind that brand). All of these companies have had handsets that were called “the world’s thinnest” at one point or another during the past 18 months. Interestingly though, the race seems far from over.
Huawei is expected to officially announce the Ascend P6 very soon, and that will probably be the next “world’s thinnest smartphone”. But its title may be incredibly short lived, since another Chinese smartphone maker, Umeox, thinks it can go even further.

5.6 mm. That’s how thin the Umeox X5 is going to be, according to Gizchina. That’s 0.58 mm less than the rumored dimension for Huawei’s Ascend P6, so the Umeox X5 is probably the next next “world’s thinnest smartphone”.
Unfortunately though, details about its specs are virtually non-existent at this point. All we get are the full dimensions: 118x60x5.6 mm. And that’s it. Oh, the X5 is also said to launch running Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, and that will apparently happen in July.
Until we get more information about what exactly this phone is packing under the hood, feast your eyes upon the leaked hands-on photos you can see above, showing an X5 prototype.
