The company has introduced the WD Sentinel RX4100 1U rack-mount server.
It can hold four drives, which means that it can be of 16 TB, 12 TB or 8 TB (with 4 TB, 3 TB and 2 TB drives, respectively).
4 GB of DDR3-800 SODIMM RAM back up the dual-core Intel Atom central processing unit (CPU) that runs everything.
For connectivity, two USB 3.0 ports are used, along with a pair of Gigabit Ethernet connectors and a USB 2.0 port, plus a VGA output.
That way, it can provide access to its files through the network, and also add LAN-less devices to said network (flash drives, external HDDs, etc.).
Western Digital installed Windows Storage Server 2008 R2 Essentials on the newcomer.
Finally, RX41000 also has an internal power supply and an optional external power port.
Prices will go from $1,900 / €1,900 to $2,349 / €2,349 depending on capacity.
