Nokia Officially Intros Lumia 925 in the UK, Available This Week

Today, Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia announced the availability of its Windows Phone 8-powered Lumia 925 smartphone in the UK, where it will land on shelves at four wireless carriers, as well as at independent retailers.

The handset has been available for pre-order in the country for some time now, with carriers such as Vodafone, Three, O2, and EE already confirming plans to make it available for their users.

The smartphone arrives at Vodafone UK in an exclusive black 32GB version, while set to hit shelves at O2 exclusively in white, with only 16GB of internal memory.

Three UK has already kicked off the pre-order period for the device, and EE also confirmed plans to add it to its offering. Additionally, retailers such as Phones4u, Carphone Warehouse, Expansys, and others will be launching the handset soon.

“The Lumia 925 will be available free from many outlets with airtime packages starting as low as £34 per month including unlimited airtime and texts,” Nokia announced.

Launched as a new flavor of Nokia Lumia 920, the handset packs enhanced capabilities, including an 8.7-megapixel photo snapper with 6 physical lenses, a Nokia Smart Camera mode, and a metallic frame around its body.

“We are delighted with the channel support for the Lumia 925,” said Conor Pierce, VP Nokia UK & Ireland. “It’s a fantastic device that will be ranged across all of our partners here in the UK.”

Lumia 925 also features a 4.5-inch screen, a 1.5GHz dual-core processor inside, 1GB of RAM, 16 / 32GB of internal memory, 7 GB free SkyDrive cloud storage, a 2000 mAh battery, and a front camera for video calling.

“The Nokia Lumia 925 is the best Nokia Windows Phone 8 device yet and will further support the growth of Windows Phone,” said David Johnson, O2’s general manager, Devices. “We think customers will love it, especially our exclusive white version.”
