Sony intros new Xperia M and Xperia M Dual with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean

Sony has officially announces its sixth new Android smartphone for this year: the Xperia M – which is also the smallest among its new handsets.

Reportedly designed to “bring Sony experiences to a new market and price point,” the Xperia M features a 4 inch scratch-resistant display with 854 x 480 pixels, and supports Sony’s NFC-based one-touch functions that allow users to connect it to devices like the SBH20 wireless stereo headset, or the latest NFC-ready BRAVIA TVs.

It’s also coming with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, HSDPA, Wi-Fi, GPS, xLOUD and 3D Surround Sound, 5MP rear camera with HDR and dedicated shutter key, VGA front-facing camera, dual-core 1GHz processor, 4GB of internal memory, and MicroSD card support.

There’s a dual SIM version of the handset, called Xperia M Dual. Both will be released “worldwide” starting the third quarter of the year. The regular Xperia M will be available in white, black, and purple. The Xperia M Dual will have a fourth color variation: yellow.

Exact pricing details haven’t been unveiled. But since the bigger (and slightly better) Xperia L currently costs €280 in Europe, the Xperia M might be sold for €200 – €250.
