AOC has introduced a new 29-inch 21:9 monitor at the CeBIT conference. This new q2963Pm is expected to retail right around €499, potentially quite an appealing price tag.
On the images, the stand of the q2963Pm looks rather crude, but in reality, it's not all that bad. The stand has a nice curved design and a dark gray finish. The connectors are integrated into it and include HDMI, VGA and DVI. DisplayPort is absent on the monitor. AOC claims a gray-to-gray response time of 5 ms, 1000:1 contrast and a 250 cd/m2 brightness.

The monitor has a 2560x1080 pixel resolution and is likely to feature the same panel as found on LG's EA93 (review here) and Dell's UltraSharp U2913WM. This AH-IPS panel is produced by LG Display. These panels are featured in an increasing number of monitors by various manufacturers. With good reason though, as it performs quite well. Equipped with the right scaler with overdrive, it can even be used for gaming, something which IPS monitors were completely unsuited for until recently. Naturally, the response times can't be compared to the latest generation of TN-panels, but the 21:9 aspect ratio does offer a completely different experience of its own.
The q2963Pm should be available within several weeks
